Hello all!  I have officially survived my first week of 4th year clinic duty, and what a week it has been!  I have to admit, I didn’t think I was going to enjoy my first rotation as much as I am, but I’m really loving it.  I won’t say the past 3 years of politics and other irritations have been “worth it,” but I will definitely say that the pros outweigh the cons by far.  It’s good to finally be doing things instead of sitting in classes wondering where professors will pull test questions from.  It’s finally starting to all come together, even if I do still feel like a big goober most of the time!

I’ve got 2 more weeks here and then I leave for 6 weeks of preceptors.  I’m really excited about those, not only because I’ll be up in South Dakota, but because I’ll again be able to be doing things.  I’m a little nervous, but this week has been a major confidence booster.

I’m considering changing one of my electives.  I had signed up for Animal Shelter in order to get more surgery experience, but I may be finding a different one.  I passed one of my classmates in the hallway who is on the rotation now and, after having flashbacks to junior surgery, nearly had a panic attack.  Not because I didn’t have confidence in surgery, mind you, but because the class was so stressful that I’m not sure I can endure to be in that room again.  So I will probably be finding a different rotation.  I’ll have to figure that one out.

I’ll update more soon.  I’m on emergency duty and need to be manning the phone.  Hope everyone has a great week!
